Two months! So far so good!
Yes, I remember ...Yup! Two months! So far so good!

Yes, I remember for the last week-and-a-half of school I really pushed to get those exams right and done (I always do, but this time more than others) because I knew I had my Greta Girl waiting for me!

I know it'll be the same this year, except I have to really focus and not just daydream about horses and riding all day. Really tempting.

But I'll have some cool classes this year, so it'll probably just be PreCal and Physics that I'll have to keep from going to horseyland in!

Oooh, and I'll be around my non-horsey friends. Yeesh, what am I going to talk about? Clothes? :(Dressagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04849960430806754249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004597800120575437.post-67878348466621944562009-08-16T13:09:41.897-05:002009-08-16T13:09:41.897-05:00I definitely know the feeling. When I first got Va...I definitely know the feeling. When I first got Val, every single day for the first week I went out to take care of and ride him, I'd always be a little worried that he'd suddenly disappear from his stall! And I remembering getting so bored in school, but then remembering that summer was almost here and I had a horse to spend it with! To tell the truth, I still get a smile just thinking about him and how lucky I am to have him :)

I didn't know you'd only had Greta two months! Congratulations on finding her, she seems like an amazing mare!Samhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09604844042029464909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004597800120575437.post-2304578197579077162009-08-16T11:40:51.458-05:002009-08-16T11:40:51.458-05:00Yeah, I saw your blog about Jackson. What a cutie!...Yeah, I saw your blog about Jackson. What a cutie! You guys really seem to enjoy each other. Yeah, when both horse and rider are learning, it's a bit more of a challenge then if you're riding a schoolmaster horse, like the gelding I first took dressage on and won my first show on. But it's a good challenge. I feel like I've accomplished more than if I just hopped on a horse that already knew what he was doing and went with it!

My instructor gave me a feel for keeping my elbows right by placing the crop so I had to hold it behind my back with the crook of my elbow. Only for a few minutes though. She said her instructor used to make her do it until her skin was raw! Yeah, it's tricky to slap your elbows to your body without becoming stiff. Everyone figures out thier own way.... eventually.

Mmmm. Dressage. Fun stuff.Dressagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04849960430806754249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004597800120575437.post-73186845565848124602009-08-16T06:18:21.911-05:002009-08-16T06:18:21.911-05:00AWW! Yay for you! I got my first pony at the age o...AWW! Yay for you! I got my first pony at the age of 10. Really a small horse as she was 14.3 hands...or somewhere on the edge. Since I was tall even then it worked out. But she was a sour mare and we never really took despite all my best efforts. I got on more with the two OTTB my parents somehow aquired! At the age of 16 (we moved and sold the horses) I began working in a jumping barn and rode LOTS of perfectly schooled horses. Jumped 3'9 but honestly, it was more the horse than it was ever me. So with Jackson whom I aquired in '07 it has been quite a ride to say the least! But despite the fact that he was WAY greener than I had thought, he is the quick learner and I am the thick-headed learner. Well, no, not true. I work really hard during our dressage lessons! AND so does he! He loves em! But if my left elbow doesn't stop popping out I am gonna duct tape it down!!! :) I have promised to post my broken shoulder, hitting a tree (2 different incidents) on Jackson so look for it. I even had him up for sale in '07 after that...I had lost my nerve. NEW STUFF FOR ME.... But, despite four people wanting to come see him, I never even contacted them back. I couldn't do it. My heart just said NOOOOOOO. Best decision EVER! :) Now we are in a great situation at my friends ranch with lessons and lots of trail rides. Trail rides are a great place to practice dressage--especially BASICS. OK. Book here...
Slainte',
~Mindyjacksonsgrrlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09702324347419665816noreply@blogger.com
